Young Men and Women: How Democratic and Engaged are they?

Since the young, nearly 70% of the population, have been the obvious economic casualties of this sustained conflict and crisis, it is often assumed that they are different in some way from the older. This view is supported by studies of the youth that demonstrate the anger and hopelessness of the youth. However, it also is the case that the crisis of the past two decades has been no respecter of age and the older have suffered equally: many have lost jobs, been forced to migrate (just like the youth), and have been the victims of political violence. Thus, it would be surprising if the older population held different views to their children and grandchildren. This is the purpose of this study: to test the assumption that young and old are different in their views, and, if different, in what ways.
